  • This tool provides individual estimates of the risk of colorectal "bowel" cancer based on the data provided. The tool is based on research conducted by researchers at the University of Melbourne, Parkville, Victoria, Australia; and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington USA.
  • The data used to develop this tool is from the Colon Cancer Family Registry Cohort http://coloncfr.org/ a resource of data and biospecimens provided by 42,000 people from 15,000 families recruited by an international consortium of six institutes in the United States, Canada and Australasia. It is a resource to support studies on the etiology, prevention, and clinical management of colorectal cancer.
  • This research was funded by the National Institutes of Health, USA and the National Health & Medical Research Council, Australia.

  • Do not use if under 18 or have symptoms including anaemia, weight loss, change in bowel habits or rectal bleeding.
  • CRISP provides estimates only and will need to be repeated if risk changes over time
  • This tool is not designed for people with a family member with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis, Lynch syndrome ('HNPCC')with a suspected genetic mutation that increases risk of bowel cancer, or with a family member who has had multiple bowel cancers.
